These disciples were trained as fisherman. It was their livelihood. They knew all about the bait, the wait and the catch. Jesus called these men to be his pupils. To learn of the way to the Father by following Him. The discipline that is takes to catch fish is the same discipline they used to win souls for the kingdom.
The bait. The bait is the word of God. It is full of life. Life for the weary and worn. Life for the restless of heart. Life for the tormented of mind. The word of God is alive and still penetrates. It gives hope and peace. It builds faith.
The wait. The wait is on the moving of the Holy Spirit. When God tells you which direction to go. It is all in God’s timing. We wait on the Lord. We do not go ahead of God but wait for Him to lead us.
The catch. The catch is love. Love of the Father of lights. God who so loved that He gave His one and only begotten Son and the Son who gave His life so we would be saved from eternal damnation. Our souls are valuable and precious to God. His love is never ending and unchanging. It is for all. It changes the heart.
Will you follow Jesus today? Will you be a fisher of men? Let your answer be Yes for today and every today.
Gemstones are casting
Pearls are landing
Diamonds are dropping
In hearts
Joy is overflowing
Dry bones are listening
Mortal man is stirring
In hearts
Spirits are soaring
Wills are diminishing
God is calling
In hearts
Lives are shifting
Changes are coming
Hope is lifting
In hearts
