Ephesians 5:21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

It is one of the hardest things for us to do is to submit. We see it in our society. People do not want to submit to authority. Submit to others one the road while driving. It is in our human nature to push ourselves forward in front of others but God’s word tells us to submit.

If we all walk in love as the second verse says in this same chapter, then it will be easy for us to submit. Love is the thread that binds it all together. It is the same as when a husband loves his wife as Christ loves the church. It will be easy for her to submit if she is loved in this way. I can only imagine that if we love our children in the way God loves us as our Father, it would be easy for our children to submit.

We have to resist the urge to be prideful. Pride comes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall the word says in Proverbs. It is wisdom to walk in humility. You can see in your life where you did not submit and got into big trouble. It is a set up to destroy you. It can destroy your reputation, your business, your family, your name, your relationships, and even most importantly your soul. That is what got Lucifer kicked out of heaven.

We live in a world that is self-obsessed but God is calling us higher. He is calling us to be about other people. His heart is to save those that are lost. We have to be the example of what true love is and submission is a part of it.

My flesh screams

It aches and wants to have its way

It will not win this time

My spirit will overpower you

The way of the Master I will go

The standard is set before me

Love is the will of my life

Outward eyes

Turned toward others

Help me Lord to follow

Break the desires

Give me the heart of you

Back I shrink

All for you O’ Lord
